Overview:
Intra-oral scanners are routinely used today as part of a digital work for dental implant prosthetic reconstruction. It offers many benefits over conventional impressions including cost, patients with gagging, limited mouth opening and accuracy. With a shift towards CAD/CAM restoration intra oral scanning allows for better laboratory communications and complete control of the prosthetic design by the clinician. The technology however does have a learning curve and there are limitations which need to be understood by the clinician. The evening will address these and also provide a sound grounding in single unit implant prosthetic designs.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the technology of Intra Oral Scanners
- Identify the benefits and limitations for the use of intra oral scanners in implant restoration
- Learn to communicate effectively with the dental laboratory for implant restorative design
- Appreciate the components needed for digital implant restorative workflows
- Hands on training using Intra Oral Scanners
